5 Cervia and salt pans
The city of Cervia has a long tradition of producing salt. The salt warehouses are located on the saltpan canal. On the right bank, near the Darsena warehouse, stands the stunning “Fontana del Tappeto sospeso” (Fountain of the Flying Carpet), a remarkable mosaic fountain. 2-hour boat trip around the salt pans, where, depending on the season, one may see a wide variety of birdlife, including flamingos.
