3 San Marino and San Leo
First stop in San Marino, which at just 61 km2 is the world’s smallest surviving republic. The sights most worth seeing in this pretty medieval city are above all the Government Palace, Cathedral and the Statue of Liberty on the Piazza della Libertà. Afternoon tour to the castle town of San Leo, located atop a high, steep crag. The location alone, which affords stunning views, makes the trip worthwhile.

4 Pesaro and Urbino
Guided tour of Urbino, which has a distinctive profile, and lies in a position of unique beauty on the steep brow of a hill. It has been able to preserve its unique coherence to the present day thanks to its secluded location between the Apennines and the Adriatic. Afternoon tour to Pesaro on the Adriatic coast. 5 Cervia and salt pans
The city of Cervia has a long tradition of producing salt. The salt warehouses are located on the saltpan canal. On the right bank, near the Darsena warehouse, the stunning Fontana del Tappeto sospeso mosaic (Fountain of the Flying Carpet). 2-hour boat trip around the salt pans, where depending on seasonality, one may see a wide variety of birdlife including flamingos.
