2 From Câmara de Lobos to Funchal
Start in Câmara de Lobos, a charming fishing village with a colourful harbour and historical ties to Winston Churchill. Ascend through banana plantations and terraced vineyards, enjoying panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and cliffs. Approaching Funchal, the landscape becomes more urban, with well-maintained promenades, lush gardens, and lively neighborhoods. In Madeira's vibrant capital, time to explore its lively promenades, lush gardens, and waterfront cafes.

3 Rabaçal, 25 Fontes Lagoon and Porto Moniz
Begin at Rabaçal, descending into the Laurisilva forest, a UNESCO natural site thanks to its exceptional biodiversity, representing a rare and well-preserved example of a subtropical laurel forest that is home to numerous endemic species.
Hike along Levada do Risco and Levada das 25 Fontes, passing moss-covered cliffs and reaching the tranquil 25 Fontes lagoon, where numerous small waterfalls cascade down a lush rock face into an emerald-green pool. End the day in the coastal town of Porto Moniz, relaxing in natural volcanic swimming pools formed by ancient lava flows.

4 Ponta do Furado - Coastal cliffs and scenic views
From Palmeira, the trail passes through dramatic coastal cliffs, with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, impressive rock formations, and hidden coves. Observe the contrast between arid terrain and lush vegetation, spotting endemic plants and rare seabirds along the way. Reach the viewpoint of Ponta do Furado for stunning views of the Desertas Islands and the vast ocean beyond.

5 From Caniçal to Machico via Roçadas
Start in the small fishing village of Caniçal and hike through rolling hills and coastal cliffs, offering panoramic views of the rugged coastline and the Atlantic Ocean. Pass through Roçadas, with sweeping vistas of the São Lourenço peninsula, known for its volcanic formations. Explore diverse terrains, from coastal paths to inland trails with native Madeiran flora and fauna.
Conclude in Machico, one of Madeira's oldest settlements, where the first Portuguese explorers arrived in 1419.

6 Madeira’s best view point: Pico Ruivo
Begin the hike at Achada Teixeira, located 1,600 m above sea level in the north-eastern part of the island, with panoramic views of Madeira’s central mountains. Follow a well-paved trail with a steady ascent, culminating in a stone staircase leading to Pico Ruivo, Madeira's highest peak. Enjoy breath-taking views of Nun's Valley and the northern coastline from the summit. Descend along the same scenic route, with the option to visit the picturesque fields of Santana or the traditional thatched-roof houses.
